SAVANNAH CAT
The Savannah cat is a new breed that comes from breeding an African Serval with a domestic cat.
The Savannah cat has the spotted coat and large ears like the Serval but with a more domestic personality. Savannah cats will walk on a leash and play like a dog.The first generation Savannahs have a long lean body.
They are smaller than the Serval but larger than a domestic cat. The further down the generation line ( F2, F3,F4) their size will be closer to a domestic cat. Savannahs are affectionate and make great pets.
They can get along fine with other pets and young children. Bengals, Oriental Shorthairs, Egyptian Maus and Serengetis are some of the domestic cats used to breed Savannahs. The first 3 or 4 generations of the males are sterile. All generation females are fertile.
F1 - F1 Savannah kittens is the result of breeding between a Serval and a domestic cat, with the resulting
kitten becoming an F1 Savannah kitten.
F2 - F2 kittens are the F1 Savannah cat bred to an appropriate male cat having the correct type which results in the birth of an F2 kitten.
F3 - F3 Savannah kittens are the result of breeding an F2 Savannah cat with an appropriate male.
F4 - F4 Savannah kittens are the immediate offspring of an F3 Savannah parent.
F5 - F5 Savannah cats are the immediate offspring of an F4 Savannah parent.
